Grade/Subject: Preschool 4 Educational Background: Degree in Early Childhood Education
Family Information: I reside in Brooklyn with my husband Scott and daughter Madison I feel that St. James offers children a safe environment to learn. St. James also establishes a strong faith base along with their education that will help them become respectable caring children. I love working with young children because everyday is different. Nothing can compare to the feeling of seeing a child accomplish a goal that has proven difficult for them, but with your guidance they finally reach the goal and their face lights up with excitement. When I’m not at school some of the things I enjoy are spending time with my family and friends. My daughter is the joy of my life, and I love being with her whether it’s at home watching a movie or out shopping. I enjoy music and going to shows with my friends. I have been teaching Preschool for 13yrs. And every year offers me new rewards and excitement. I look forward to having new children to help them achieve the goals and standards placed upon them.

Grade/Subject: Pre-K 4 assistant Educational Background: Certified Para Professional; attending college to become a teacher Family Information: Live in Plainfield with husband Paul, and three children, Kelly, Kristin, and David. We have 2 cats, one dog and one bunny. Some of my interests include gardening, cooking, reading, and crafts. I chose to teach at St. James School because I admired the moral, faith-based atmosphere and the excellent education that children receive here and I wanted to a part of this experience. My children have attended since Pre-K and I have been very happy with their education. Kelly, my oldest, graduated a few years ago and has become one of the top students of her senior class and a positive role model for younger children. I am sure that St. James had more than just a little bit to do with this! With such a positive influence in their formative years, I am sure my two older children feel the same way.

Family Information: I live in a log home in the woods with my husband in Vernon and our two cats, Domino & Abby (who is always trouble!) Our daughter, Karen, lives in Boston but comes home very frequently-so our nest isn’t too empty. She is also a first grade teacher, teaching in Braintree, MA. My husband and I are members of two concert bands: the Eastern CT State University Band and the Windham Concert Band. I play clarinet; and enjoy listening to all kids of music (except country-I am trying to learn to appreciate it!) I enjoy needlework, gardening, and reading. I am usually reading two books at the same time-a British mystery and a non-fiction work about American History. My newest interest is the time of our Founding Fathers and the Revolutionary War. I truly enjoy every aspect of teaching first grade-especially teaching reading. I love the openness, affection, and the genuine enthusiasm for learning that first graders possess. Although I’ve been at St. James for 17 years, I still find it exciting as children develop their reading skills and grow to be independent readers! I am looking forward to another rewarding year of teaching first grade!

I am interested in computers; I love to learn everything new that will help me fix them. I also use my computer to find new and exciting ideas and projects to use in my teaching. I also email other teachers all over the world to share ideas with them. There are about 6,000 teachers that I share ideas with. I also love teaching. I have been a teacher for over 30 years. Grade/Subject: Grade 3 Educational Background: Eastern CT State University- B.S. Psychology of Children Certification: Early Childhood Pre-K to Grade 3 Family Information: Husband Robert and three sons, Robert, David, and Daniel Throughout my life I have been involved in working with children in one capacity or another. Interacting with children has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. Seeing them learn and grow provides me with great pride and joy. I chose St. James as a school where I would like to teach because of the environment which promotes Christian education and moral values within the educational experience for children. I feel that as we integrate these values with learning, we are reaching the whole child and preparing them for a rewarding future as responsible adults. My personal interests and hobbies include traveling, photography, reading, and needlework. Whenever I travel, I always am thinking of how I can share my experiences with my students and inspire them to visit new places and experience new people. I bring my enthusiasm for reading to the classroom and attempt to inspire my students to see reading as an adventure.
